U2 iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE TOUR BOOK DESIGN

REFLECTING INNOCENCE AND EXPERIENCE

The U2.IE tour is based around songs from the current album Songs Of Innocence, an album whose themes include the band’s present selves reflecting on their past and how it makes them who they are today. It’s also a tour that incorporates an incredible back catalog of songs, all set to a vivid and dynamic theatrical show.

AMP Visual decided that the tour book infact needed to be two books! As a result, we designed the U2.IE tour programme in a Z-shaped format that could be opened from either end – so it was in effect, 2 separate books. This allowed the two themes of ‘innocence’ and ‘experience’ to be explored as separate graphic approaches — the Innocence side employed graphical devices and colour scheme pertaining to a somewhat more punk-like ethic while the Experience side had a more layered, moderne and more digital-vibe with a vivid and saturated RGB colour palette. Both sides incorporated an array of treated photography, typography and imagery that was to reflect the dual nature of the show itself.
